My name is Steve from Phoenix, AZ. I just drove this car home yesterday and have spent the last day and a half familiarizing myself with the car... boy do I have a lot to learn. I have never owned a classic car before, let alone a Bentley. I feel blessed to have acquired a car that has been fully restored and well cared for by the last couple of owners. Let the adventure begin!

I know that car very well! We installed a new wiring harness in it and restored the engine compartment for the former owner a few years ago here in BC. We had the engine out, inner wings out, and firewall completely stripped and all repainted. I went to great lengths to get everything correct under the bonnet. You have bought a very, very good Bentley. Congratulations and welcome to the forum Steve.

Love the silver with the red interior _ very smart !
Nice to see the wood what appears to be a very professional job.

The Bentley's so often suffer neglect in this area with DYI jobs that look it.

In the last photo it looks like the front end is sitting a little low; the tire appears to be tucked up in the fender more then it should ???
Probably just the angle of the photo, or the rear springs have been re-arched and are sitting a bit high ???

Also, in my moderator role,
Welcome to the forum Steve. As a new member, please take a few minutes to read through "Instructions for navigating the site" and "How to reply to a discussion thread"in the FAQ section, link here: FAQ. There are other topics there that you may find informative. Please note also that it is not necessary to quote a previous post in your reply if you are following the train of thought in the thread, it just clutters up the thread unnecessarily. Simply start typing your reply in the dialogue box below the last post where it says "write your reply" , do not click on "reply"(which adds the previous post as a quote) unless it is absolutely necessary to maintain continuity in the thread. Thanks, Jim.

If it's sagging, then the springs need attention or replacement _ it's a simplistic suspension.
Even a sagging Shadow in the rear means it needs new springs.

Shocks/dampers do just that, but don't control height.

I could be wrong about the springs, but I don't think so.

There should be paper work if the springs were replaced or at least some receipts.

There is also a US spring manufacturer that makes springs that will match the original specs for the various RR/Bentley models over the years. I have them listed in the RR & Bentley Parts, Repair, Restoration & Other Resources Compilation.

One among our membership ended up installing a set of springs I had originally purchased from that source for SRH33576 in his own Shadow, and may be willing to speak about the long term experience. I believe he had the usual "when freshly installed" experience of the car riding high on those two springs until time and weight "settled them in."
