I recently purchased a 1990 Bentley Turbo R, the front passenger door window lift has a problem. The motor was non op I managed to find another and fitted it, but it did not move the window. If I disconnect the chain from the lower window frame the motor will send the chain up and down effortlessly, however when I connect it back to the frame the motor will not move the window in either direction. I can manually move the window up and down with the chain attached. I tried moving the front track thinking it may have been out of alignment, but no change. Any ideas anyone?

OK I figured it out, turns out that the sprocket was spinning on the shaft that connects it to the nylon gear wheel inside the motor gearbox, I guess there was enough grip for the chain to go up and down when not connected to the lower window frame, but under load it slipped on the shaft. I drilled it and inserted a screw, cut the screw off flush and bingo, my window now goes up and down. Hope this experience helps someone else !

The article by Don Elliott is entitled, Silver Spur Windows Lifts, but the information is, of course, applicable to an array of SZ series cars.

Window Regulator and Motor Solutions

Hey everyone! I've been seeing that a lot of Bentley and Rolls Royce owners are having window issues and most of the time it's related to a window regulator failure. These parts are expensive, but there is a company called Power Window Repair that rebuilds these regulators and motors for a fraction of the cost from the manufacturer. The website is powerwindowrepair.com and the phone number is 480-570-5116. I hope this helps!
