Hi All:
I’ve been trying to figure this issue out with a shop but haven’t had much luck. The passenger front window won’t go down. The shop I brought it to swapped out the relay and things worked for a bit and now they aren’t again.
The up switch works and I can hear a click when I use it on the passenger door switch or driver switch. I tried swapping the relays and the good relay does nothing in the down hole but clicks fine in the up. (Same relay, both aftermarket)
I was thinking of changing the switch but wanted to see if anyone else had ideas on what could be burning out the relays. Fuse for that window is fine, good relay in the spot and still isn’t working.
here is a photo of the relay as well.

Yes, I pulled the relay out that was bad and opened it up. The contacts looked like they had some buildup on them so I cleaned them off.
Both relays are working now. I hear them both click from the drivers side door switch and passenger door switch.
The passenger switch on the down press does sound slightly different than all the other switches it up and down.
In any case, no love from the window going down from either switch.
According to the below diagram that leaves me with the motor or wiring between the relay and motor being an issue unless I’m missing something. (Or I guess if the relay the shop installed isn’t proper).

a little back history. This window has been a problem for a long time. It would lower by itself when it rained or when you wash the car. The shop looked at this and said it could be the relays got wet so they swapped them and then covered them inside the door so they wouldn’t get wet.

If the motor works in one direction....it basically works, so the issue is ahead of the motor. The switch reverses the 2 wires on the motor
Ok I haven’t seen the window move, up or down, in the past 2 weeks. It worked when it left the shop but hasn’t since. This ain’t the first time that it worked for a bit and then stopped. I had the inside of the car apart to replace all the busted speakers which is all done and working now. Only thing I can think of is the door lock shorted out when putting that back on and popped the 4 amp fuse when putting that same door back together.
I guess I can turn things on and start checking contacts for current to see what’s happening when the relays are engaging.

Teodactyl, as a relatively new member of this forum, please take a few minutes to read through "Instructions for navigating the site" and "How to reply to a discussion thread"in the FAQ section, link here: FAQ. There are other topics there that you may find informative. Please note also that it is not necessary to quote a previous post in your reply if you are following the train of thought in the thread, it just clutters up the thread unnecessarily. Simply start typing your reply in the dialogue box below the last post where it says "write your reply" , do not click on "reply"(which adds the previous post as a quote) unless it is absolutely necessary to maintain continuity in the thread. Hi All:
I took the driver door off and swapped the relays (factory) from that side to the passenger and now all works fine. I think only time will tell if they last (ie, is something else going wrong)
The diagram on the relay (factory) vs what do the shop put in are slightly different so I wanted your thoughts if that was the problem.
I was able to pull 2 from the windshield wipers for now while the factory replacements are on order.

can anyone explain based on these pictures if they are different and what the difference is?

Thanks for that. My new switches, both, come tomorrow so I plan to swap them out as the first step in resolving the issue. I will say that the down switch has a slightly different tone than any other in the car.
