Please help
My Seraph has been running perfectly. I reversed it out of the garage to get another vehicle out and now it refuses to start, everything works, it turns over but will not fire. My mechanic has looked it over and says that there is no power to the injectors but cant find out why. Any ideas before i tow it to RR and get ripped off.

You need to be sure of the diagnosis, RR/Bentley Mastercheck is the best and could be rented via Flying Spares.
Maybe diag tools but I don't know which one, and they do just a minimum and not necesseraly on those models.

Have you used a booster to start this car or had a low battery and jumped with another one ?

Yes i have had battery issues and changed the battery control module in the back as it had water in it, must of happened when the carpets were valeted. New batteries had just been installed. Do you think that this may be causing the issue? if so what do I look for? I appreciate your time.

Has the car been started and working since that leak and module replacement ?
What do you call battery control module ?

The starter is working and moving the engine ?

How powerfull is the new battery ? 70 AH / 100 AH ?

Did you put the battery or did somebody did it for you ? Question is was there a polarity inversion which dammage any ECU ?

Do you have an alamr ? original or not ? Is it working , can you put it ON / Off ?

I hope the mechnaic has not mistaken + / - , even for one second, when he replaced the battery.
You may need a Mastercheck to go further...

Have you a Bentley specialist in your area with Mastercheck ?

Battery control module is between the two batteries in the boot. car has been running fine on the new batteries for weeks. i have ordered a scanning tool from Flying Spares, there is only 1 scanner that we can find in Calgary Canada and they take $400 for the privilege of plugging it in. I will have it to make available to anyone in Alberta to use as i know at least 3 other Seraphs in this province. Glad to help out fellow owners to save them getting ripped off.

Phil, what tests were done to confirm that the injectors are not firing? Did he test it with a noid light?
I know on some German cars, the injectors will not fire unless you have a decent amount of voltage so the first thing I would do is disconnect the batteries and charge them fully with a battery charger then see what happens.

If he didnt use a noid light to test the injectors, then put a regular OBD2 scanner on and crank to see if it has thrown any codes. It could be a crank position sensor and it would throw a code that you might be able to look up on a BMW site.

Good luck!

If that X in the second position is actually what's being shown, I suspect a manufacturer specific Powertrain OBD code, as the standard ones (and there are many, many of those) have 4 digits after the P.

I would have suspected P0108 or P2108, but have no idea why any code reader would present an X in that second position if it weren't what's being returned by the OBD ECU.
