Greetings,

I just purchased a 06 Phantom for a great price, but it apparently was hiding some serious issues. In particular the i-Drive system is failing, throwing TPMS codes and ride height issues. I'm having trouble finding a shop in Los Angeles that can sort out these issues; I've been told I need a completely new ECU.

Does anyone have experience with replacing the ECU on a Phantom? Because I didn't purchase directly from Rolls they haven't been much help. I have found a specialist who repairs ECUs and has quoted me around $300 which seems too low, the ECU's run about $20,000 from what I'm told. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"Google" Phantom 7 (your year) ECU issues and I think you may find a few things, and some reasons why the resale on the first series of the new Phantom are droppinggg.

Find a BMW specialist that is very familiar with the same vintage BMW 7 series - 745Li / 750Li.
The infotainment system was lifted directly from this car with little modification sans software.
The person that quoted you $300.00 knows it is the same system as BMW and is aware of its issues.

You will spend more money in the removal, re-installation, and programming than the cost/repair of replacement parts.

I remember that the level sensors are part of the struts and you will incur a lot of financial pain sorting out the ride height issue(s). The ride height system is bespoke to Rolls.
