Generally, use a high quality chrome polish. Note that all chrome polishes contain an abrasive. The finer the abrasive the smoother the final surface. If you are going to follow this route, try it on an inconspicuous small area first. If the marks are deep, mechanical polishing done by a professional is called for. Other than that have the item re-chromed.
