Hi all
I have just purchased a new key fob for a Clifford alarm system from flying spares in uk. The problem now is that I need to have the new fob 'paired' to the existing fob and control system. I do not have a Bentley dealer nearby, I am in Finistère in France. Does any one know if there is any one in Brittany that can do this work ?
regards
Hugh

Not sure what the Clifford is or whether your car is the same as mine but I think I am in the same boat as you, though one stage further along. I did manage to get into the fob's security system but couldn't pair.

Apparently, after you have driven the thousand-odd kilometers to get the simple 5-minute pairing job done, you might well discover that what you really need is http://robisonservice.blogspot.com/2011/11/replacing-alarm-batteries-in-1990s.html

But I have also been told by people who DO know what is going on that I shouldnt bother replacing that elderly NI-CAD battery because that job might still not solve the problem. So I posted here and no one knew either.

Oh, by the way, what you will discover along the way is that if you dont replace that battery, it probably will sooner or later leak corrosive material all over the huge circuit board!

Lastly, if you are insistent on getting your/our problem solved, people here will recommend you to http://rrtechnical.info, which is a site where you can chase your tail in circles for hours of enjoyment without any solution being there.

I ponder this problem every time I manually lock or unlock the car. Maybe someone on the Australian forum knows the answer?

Which year is your car ?
With Clifford alarm, only the Bentley Mastercheck can "paired" a new remote.

The car is a left hand drive 1997 Brooklands LPT ( first registered in 1998 ) and made for the Japanese market.
"Flying spares" told me that a scanner would have to be used to pair the new key fob. It would not surprise me if the operation could only be performed by Bentley.

Jean7 ..... Bentley dealers in France are an option of Paris or Bordeaux for me, neither are next door, I assume that 'Bentley Mastercheck' can not be done by anybody else ?

Might it be possible to rent a unit for a short while? I know this is done in the States

Where are you located Hugh ?
In 1997, no scanner will do it as far as I know and as told me a strong electronic Bentley specialist who fixed my remote.

I did it in a small Bentley specialist, not an official dealer, but he had the Mastercheck and the knowledge.

Find a Bentley specialist in your area with Mastercheck.

Jean7,I live about 15 mins from Morlaix, 29630 or at Pont Aven. I do not know of any Bentley specialist in Brittany. If you have any suggestions I would be pleased to hear from you. The key fob is the current issue but it would be helpful to find someone who has the knowledge to do repairs or mechanical work near to me. I have been taking the car back to UK but it is very time consuming + it's a very long ferry crossing from Brittany !
