A relation of mine is working on the dashboard of a 1934 RR and has asked me yo supply what seems to be 1.1mm square pewter wire. My main reason in joining this forum is to ask about this wire and what it's made of. It's a tin-based alloy I think.

I tested a smal sample of it comparing it with a same-size piece of Britannia Pewter 1.1mm sq wire, and the sample from the RR melted slightly earlier than my piece of BP.

Pure tim melts at 232degC, and pewter a little higher (295?). I suspect the sample from the Rolls is actually pure tin.

Does anyone here know about this wire?
