Hello friends,

I was at the drive thru at Chick-Fila and the young chap asked me what kind of car I was in - I guess I naive enough to think he would know it was a “Bentley” LOL. The manager came up and said come on dude - it’s a Bentley. Just thought it was a funny comment.

getting back into the swing of things and starting a few new projects on the “R”.

Kindly,
Stephen

I am completely unsurprised. It has often been said that Bentley was (not so much is, since the companies split as did the design idioms) "the stealth Rolls-Royce."

The Flying Lady is instantly recognized the world over, the winged B, not so much.

I've had one occasion where someone walked up to SRH33576 from the rear and asked that question. I had them take a peek around the front, and the question was answered without my saying a word. I know that would not have been the case had I been in a T2.

Excellent!
I was at Cars & Coffee in Stuttgart yesterday, in the rain I might add, and got chatting to two younger guys about the Bentley. I ended up letting them take it for a spin with me in the back seat, which I'm fairly sure made their day 😀

Ha ha, I do not remember when I saw last time pre '00 SZ car (except my). Even as wedding limo. Maybe 15 years ago? In Warsaw you can see on the streets only some Continentals and "Arnages" ~once a year. Sure, there are at least 3 SZs, but they never leaved their garages.

I can't remember the last time I saw an SZ car that wasn't mine. I have vague memories of a Silver Spirit or Spur on the ring road maybe 10 years ago.

Here in Texas, I there's a guy on the street next to mine who owns a silver dawn. We share the same alley and both have garages behind the house so i see the car often.

In London, Hanwell was the next town from where I grew up in Ealing and that Rolls specialist has been around since as far back as I can remember.

Hanwells was going to be my next port of call if the car I ended up buying was no good, mostly due to their selection so I could try out a few different models.

I stopped by on my last visit as he had a 2008 SL500 that my brother was interested in buying. He seems like a straight shooter. They've been around for about as long as I've been alive.

I had a guy compliment the Turbo R the other day and asked what year it was. "97" I said. "Oh, I'm 98" he replied.

Good grief I'm old.

I've owned lots of different and interesting European cars over the years, but nothing has gotten the attention that this giant brick of a Bentley gets.
