Just for the record, I was once told Jaguar XJ6 front pads were a good substitute for Silver Shadow rear pads, with a little modification. So, I bought a set from Autozone and found the "little modification" entailed cutting the pads down in length and filing (elongating) the holes for the locating pins.
Needless to say my order for SY1 pads went in to Flying Spares the same day.

Installed a Pertronix LU-281 distributor module in my 1980 SWII without the ballast that was detailed on the AU forum with a '78 Corniche.
The car will run for 3-4 seconds then die.
Here's a diagram of the work. Should I have used the ballast?. I was hoping I could eliminate it...

she had a handbrake rebuild in 2009, however the same year someone pulled the handbrake on really hard in anger apparently and it stopped working..
