I bought a 1990 Turbo R last year and I think you are hitting the nail on the head with the problem areas on these cars - I've replaced the steering rack, rear suspension accumulator spheres (not shocks per se), and two power window mechanisms. Also brake system accumulator spheres tend to run down and I've replaced those. Also my A/C is borderline on a hot humid summer day, gonna have to take care of that in the future.
On the bright side, the power train has been extremely reliable and the car has never left me stranded (those repairs I described above have all been of the "when I get around to it" type). And while the repairs are expensive they haven't been Porsche-expensive, just normal expensive.
