Hello,

I will have the brake pump removed from the engine. I will be ordering the special tool.

My question is how the pump shroud removed?

Both lines (feed and high pressure) have already been unscrew from the fittings of the pump shroud.

Does the large nut (see picture) on top need to be loosened?

It's in the WSM but just remove the circlip at the top and twist and pull up on the outer housing. Top nut comes off when you want to rebuild the innards. If it's pumping fine but just leaking remove the housing, replace the two large O rings, and reassemble.

Thank you Jim. Is the circlip visible from here? I can't see it.

The pump is not pumping any fluid, so the suspicion is either a broken rod or a failed pump return spring.

The snap ring tabs are partially visible in the pic buried under the crud. Brush/blo the crud away. Use a twisting action while pulling upward.
