I am new to these forums so let me introduce myself. I am Dave Kaiser and own DC Lock and Key in Grand Junction, Co, USA. The reason I asked to be including in these forums is I have a customer that has a 1982 Silver Spirit that has been vandalized. Someone got into it the other night and worked on the ign to try and steal it. The good news is they did not hurt anything on or in the car but the key switch. The car is mint with only 60k miles so I need help with information as to the correct way to remove the switch and repair or replace, if an replacement ignition switch is still available. I want to keep this repair as clean as possible as the car is for sale. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

You can get a new replacement barrel set to your Key from your Local RR & Bentley
Dealer and if you ask nicely they will print off a copy of the workshop manual for you
If they won’t help let me know and I will give you a phone No

Dave: This is a bit tricky as the key barrel isn't listed as a separate part in the parts list. Part number is UD19347 but the factory no longer have stock. As you are a lock specialist probably the best option would be a used barrel (or swicthbox if you have to) and re-set the lock to the original key - it's a standard tumbler-type Yale lock similar to a front door lock here in the UK. I have got them done several times by locksmiths.

Spirit Ignition key or lock repair

Sometimes it happens that keys get stuck in the ignition key lock. This can be one of the most frustrating things to deal with on your car. You should recycle all your used fluids at an appropriate recycling center. Be careful not to spill fluids anywhere. The Lock assembly of your ignition key lock can only be repaired by an experienced auto locksmith.
