Good morning folks - I have a frustrating fault and hopefully somebody will be able to help. Following a battery change my alarm ( that I never knew iIhad) went off. the car would not start and after playing I found that if I removed the interior light fuse, and reconnected the battery that it would start. It only did this after various attempts and was preceded by a rebooting clicking noise in the boot maybe from the remote control module ( I have no fobs). Clearly the internal alarm battery has failed so I have replaced it - the old was original and was dead but being the large Yuasa unit was easy to swap and it had not leaked. On reconnecting it the alarm goes off - even when you disconnect the battery and it acts as if the alarm is on all the time. Unlocking many times makes no difference and I have been unable to replicate the rebooting clicking which heralded a return to working. Any suggestions as to how to fool it into turning the alarm off?
The remote unit is a replacement for the OEM one and has been bodged in place by a RR Specialist prior to my ownership. Fortunately I have found the original 10 pole connector and am tempted to buy a new remote unit.
