I bought a non-runnung 1989 Turbo R about 6 months ago. I finally got it running almost perfectly! The car starts and idles absolutely like new until I drive it about 50 miles when it will shake a little idling. It is not missing to me, but just seems not as smoothly. I have changed the spark plugs, but not the wires. Could the wires cause this idling issue when hot?

Any ideas appreciated!

Richard

You should replace all parts such as air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, rotor cap and finger and belt between distributor.
Check at night for electric arc on spark plug wires

Yes, coil are also prone to failure if original

Well done to save this beauty

I had a shorting HT lead tat was cooked at the clamp at rear 93 Turbo R. Defiantly change. Bit of a job to get to rear clamps.
