1989 Bentley Turbo R Power Seat Issue

118 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Jim Walters
Greetings everyone! I'm currently facing an issue with the passenger seat in my 1989 turbo R. Whenever I turn on the car, the passenger seat keeps moving backward accompanied by a clicking noise. To troubleshoot, I removed the B4 and B5 fuses, which stopped the seat from moving. However, the clicking noise persisted. Therefore, I suspect there might be a problem with the seat memory system or control system. Does anyone happen to know which fuse corresponds to the seat controls system? Additionally, if anyone has knowledge on how to remove the seat, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum (name?). Your issue will most definitely be with the seat control module, specifically the batteries in the module will have leaked and damaged the circuit board in it. This fault has been discussed many times in the past on this forum, if you do a search of the forum posts you will find lots of information on it. Also, the factory workshop manuals are available free online at rrtechnical.info, and also heritage.bentleymotors.com. To get at the seat control module you lift the seat base, the workshop manual will give you directions on how to do it. You don't have to remove the whole seat to get at the module which is under the seat base cushion.

Hi Jim, I just wanted to say a big thanks for your help. This is Logan, and I really appreciate it.
You're welcome Logan.
Now, in my moderator voice: As a new member, please take a few minutes to read through "Instructions for navigating the site" and "How to reply to a discussion thread"in the FAQ section, link here: FAQ. There are other topics there that you may find informative. Please note also that it is not necessary to quote a previous post in your reply if you are following the train of thought in the thread, it just clutters up the thread unnecessarily. Simply start typing your reply in the dialogue box below the last post where it says "write your reply" , do not click on "reply"(which adds the previous post as a quote) unless it is absolutely necessary to maintain continuity in the thread. Thanks, Jim.
