Hi all,

The rubber element of the flexible Steering Column Coupling (UR23270) has disintegrated, meaning the coupling needs to be renewed.
When trying to fit a new flexible coupling, it turned out that its holes for the four attachment bolts were some 4 mm further apart than the holes in the flanges of the adjoining steering column halves.

Assuming the dimensions of the new Steering Column Coupling are correct, is there a secret procedure on how to make it fit? Would it be advisable to compress the rubber element until the hole pattern matches (by for example tightening a hose clamp around it), or may the resulting radial forces damage the bolts or steering column flanges? Since the steering is indeed a safety critical part of your car, I am not keen on improvising on this.

Best Regards, Anders
