SZ 1988 Flame Trap removal

Hi

Have a 20,000 SZ Silver Spur and am trying to remove the crankcase breather tube flame trap, but running into problems. I've removed the setscrew and can open the housing enough to see the rubber sealing ring inside, but can't get the housing off enough to get inside without having to disconnect the elbow hose first. This, however, is proving to be way harder than I anticipated (i.e. the hose doesn't want to budge for love nor money (and yes, I've loosened the worm clips)).

Anyone got any ideas how to remove this elbow shaped hose (circled in red below) so I can get the housing opened up?

Thanks all!

Use a pair of channel lock pliers and gently rock the elbow at the hose clamp location on both ends. Loosen both clamps and slide them away from the ends.

Warm it with a hot air gun and it will then come off easily.

Hey Jim, It finally occurred to me that you are in the driver's seat of the iconic Beatles Phantom V and you're the custodian as well!

Thanks Rob. I started looking after it in 1995 and was responsible for all maintenance and movement until my contract with the museum expired last fall. Have still not heard from them in regards to renewal. It was quite the thrill to be asked to look after it back then, at that time I would drive it to and from the shop for servicing. For the first ten years I kept in my showroom, after 2004 the museum kept it stored in their warehouse out of sight. People were just stunned when they came in the shop and saw it there. When I was listening to the Beatles in the late 60's I had no idea I would some day be servicing let alone driving John Lennon's Rolls-Royce!
