Key programming

I have 2 keys for my car one valet and a master. Only the valet will start the car. The other key doesn't appear to be programmed. If I put the valet key in turn to on quickly remove and insert the master key and start the car it will start as if the theft deterrent system has a timer. My question is how do I program the key?

Hi.

You need Masterchef to learn extra keys I'm afraid.

If you want to get the master key working instead you can swap the chips over.

Some people have taken the working chip out and taped it to the key switch antenna. Works on some systems.

I have a dreadful problem with mine in so much as I can't get a spare key and I only have one and that is slightly bent! Three times we have tried to get a key for it, twice direct from Bentley and every time it is wrong, even tried a new blank from them (for a Rolls-Royce as there are no more Bentley blanks in stock) and the cutter took one look at it and my original and declared them to be totally different. So, no idea, it looks original key and locks but they may have been changed. 98 Brooklands 'R'

Paul,

As far as I understand for my 97 Conti The key itself has electronic inside ?
I did not know that.
I thought it was just a mechanical key as before.

Where is the chip ? In the neiman ?

Today I replaced my cdl/alarm module and I now have remotes. When I use the remote to unlock the car, I can use the key that doesn't appear to have been programmed (master key)to start the car. Didn't expect that. If I unlock it with the master it won't start as before.

I had the same problem on my Arnage. After 3 tries to get the right key, they gave up and replaced all the locks in the car (at their cost).

Cheers,
Jeff.
