I'm a lucky boy - Continental R by Adcock book

My Christmas present from my wife, a book I have been trying to obtain for about 3 years at a sensible price!

Bentley Continental R by Ian Adcock.

I thought this book would have lots of information, unavailable elsewhere - and I am not disappointed. A really fascinating plotted history of the development of the car. Adcock was clearly given excellent access to the company and those people involved in the design and development. Masses of detail from interviews etc which I have never seen or heard before.

On top of everything, the photography is absolutely superb - an added bonus as I'm in the photographic industry. You rarely get such well crafted commercial photography these days.

When I read how much work went into fine tuning every aspect of this car, it makes me realise how much work I still have in store to bring mine up to the right standard!!

If you are interested in this car, try to get this book. If you hang out, eventually one comes along at a vaguely sensible price!

Wow, currently about £999 on Amazon. Certainly would be nice to read once.
Again It's just amazing how you can still buy one of these cars starting for about £35K.
Now who fancies the Corniche FHC, still also similarly priced.

Yes, that's one of the silly prices. The true value is around £250 - £300. This is where mine was price-wise, and what I have seen one sell for at auction. Although it's a British book, many seem to be in the USA - mine came from a seller in California.

For anyone interested in the Cont. R this book is definitely worth holding out for - without question the definitive, accurate, account of how the car came to be.

There is another book, Continental R by Jurgen Lewandowski which is also very good with lots of information, but sells for about half the price of the Adcock book. Now I have both books, I can confirm the Adcock book is superior and has a lot more detail.

But the Lewandowski book is still worth getting too.
